Newtown, Virginia Tech, etc were all tragic, unspeakable,horrible
incidents. And I was horrified. And I agree that gun violence needs
to be addressed more severly then in the past. However, in the case of that grandmother you mentioned you used the word “shot”. But in the case of Oscar Pistorius, you use the word “murder”, which has not been proven. Why is that? Just because people have seen it in big words splash all through the media doesnt make it so. The SA prosecution on his case is trying to make a case for their argument of murder. I, for one, am looking forward to that. Only 2 people knew what transpired that night and one is not here. You say the Oscar’s quotes are no longer on your wall. Does that means you have already passed judgement on him? Or is it that Oscar (or you) does not believe in what he has said, anymore? I think he believes in every quote you have collected, and now put to the side. Set aside your judgment after the verdict.

Yes i am not stupid and i do realise what has happened is awful. But i don’t admire him for that for christ sake. 

His achievements are what i admire…
How he has coped with growing up with his disability…
His sheer determination in life…
And all of the work that he has done to help other people.

It is just a terrible shame that this has had to happen.

I think the cover page of TIME magazine with Oscar Pistorius’ image and title was disgusting!! This magazine, which I had in the past I had respect for, has bent lower among the tabloids. It is as if Oscar has already been convicted and jailed. The thought that this magazine has jumped on the bandwagon with the rest of the … to achieve sensationalism is more than I can stomach. Not to mention not having all the FACTS.  They would have done better and been more creditable to use other non-human images, and a different title, than to use an image that, in the past, stood for inspiration and heroism. Making him the poster boy for harden criminals in SA. I hope the powers-that-be are proud of themselves for doing this. It’s all about being in the black, the bottom line, and damn everything else. 

A note to all of Oscar’s fans (and haters), and people who want to joke, what happened on FEB 14 was TERRIBLE and TRAGIC but give the court system a chance to do its job. The truth will come out. I know the lies already have.

The defense  poked all kinds of holed in the prosecution’s case.  Last day of bail hearing tomorrow(I hope).  RIPReeva

FYOP was shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic death of Reeva Steenkamp this morning. My heart goes out to all her friends and family.
 
Like all Oscar’s fans, it seems unfathomable to me that he could have done something so horrifying. I hope to see truth and justice prevail in this case and tomorrow’s trial.
 
This is not a defensive post, nor is it an anti-Oscar post. I will not speculate. This is a pro-justice, pro-Reeva, pro-due process post.
